1909:
Banque du Congo Belge is founded. The greater part of its business as a limited company was in Central Africa. In 1911, it acquired the privilege of issuing banknotes for the Belgian Congo which it was to retain for over 40 years.


1960:
The Congo became a sovereign state. The Banque du Congo Belge transferred its European activities to the Banque Belgo-Congolaise, established in Brussels on 14 April. This bank became known as the Banque Belgolaise from 1965 and was a shareholder, together with the Congolese state and private partners in the Congolese bank bearing the name of Banque Commerciale Du Congo.

It took the name Banque Commerciale Zaïroise for a number of years..

1997-2003:
It took the name Banque Commerciale Zaïroise for a number of years.

2004...
Taking advantage of the improvement in the socio-political situation and the resulting improvement in the economy, BCDC once again began expanding its network throughout the country, adapting its commercial organisation to the new needs of private individuals, SMEs/SMIs, major corporations and institutional customers.

BCDC is today the benchmark for banking in the DRC, and operates throughout the country.
